The Continuing Works of Vasco Mucci

STREET PIRATE (VANCOUVER)

Tuesday, Apr 22, 2008 5:02 PM Vasco Mucci directs this short documentary on Don Babcock. It is a powerful film that opens a window into the life of Don who finds himself on the streets of Vancouver where he shares his experience for having lived another day. Vasco's direction brings the viewer to an emotional state that ponders life itself, taking us further to the point of surrender where we are awakened to humanity. The common still that is shared by viewers is the destination to silence where you see your yesterday, your today and your tomorrow. It is there that you ask yourself, "Just who am I in this span of life?" Clearly, the works of Vasco Mucci are a manifestation of his cerebral playground that includes a fundamental see-saw in grey matter balance of fiction and reality. He plays there, not unlike his former arenas, where he has gained his values from bloodlines, educational transits and life experiences. His is the nature of progress without inhibition, and Street Pirate is the point of reality that too many people have chosen to dismiss in an effort to place a comfortable spin on their self-righteous lives. The moralistic aspect cannot be ignored as Vasco shatters the facades of those who embrace right as being what is only favorable to themselves. Unlike the director's excursions in fictitious lands, Street Pirate is pure reality. Here too, you won't find cohersion to create a sensation. It is what it is.
