THE HIKE WITH CLIFF KENSINGTON

Monday, Feb 23, 2009 11:41 AM Cliff Kensington takes to the trails where he demonstrates techniques that he has implemented to survive short and long periods in the wilderness. A renown master of the backwoods, Kensington, who believes in light trail wear even during tick season, claims that nothing is impossible when hiking. "You have to feel free out there. When I first started hiking when I was young I came upon a group of people at Quarry Lake. They were all naked! I wondered what in the world they were doing. But after hiking for years I've come to realize that you can't have excess weight when you're on the trail." Kensington has become a master at various outdoor survival techniques such as trout fishing with his mouth, log lifting, safe fire burning and litter cleanup. He also admits that he uses the terrain to relieve his libido when he feels the urge coming on. "It's something that's a natural part of life. For us males, I've found the gopher hole acts as a temporary haven to relieve ourselves." Kensington demonstrates how he uses a gopher hole to help him stay on the trail rather than return to town for some action.
