Canned In Canmore
excursions during wakefulness
Comedy Hour - Jokin' JimWednesday, Aug 6, 2008 11:01 AM Jokin' Jim comes to Radio Canmore where he finds the crowd straight-up in feedback. "If they don't like the joke they don't laugh. That makes sense. When I'm on stage in Calgary I hear everyone laughing before I even get to the joke itself. Then I realize that everyone is sipping frozen drinks, cocktails and text messaging. I guess that makes sense too, but you got to wonder why anyone pays to sit around and text message, surf the net and play games on hand-held devices. I figure the same people are into the same thing when they're in the sack. Yep, the text message orgasms rather than the animate experience. Where I come from we basically keep things simple. Like, I guess I could of been something else, but what would I have been? A piano bar player? A bartender? A lumberjack? I don't know if I could have been any of those because I have a problem with my back. I can't pick things up, sit too long and I can't cut down trees. I mean, do I look like Paul Bunyan? Even if I did it isn't because I'm related to him or anything like that. My dad was from Poland and I grew up on Polish Hill. We never left the place because we didn't know how to get back up the hill. I thought that it had something to do with Jack and Jill, but no one ever taught us anything other than if you go down you aren't coming back. That's why I'm not there anymore. I left and can't get back up the hill. When I talk to people there now I just stand at the bottom with a megaphone."
